Questions people ask
Is Pensar free?
Yes. There are no purchases, no subscription and no ads.
Paco can write a lot for you each day, with a daily limit so it stays free for everyone. If you reach it, he'll say "That's all for today", and you can carry on tomorrow.
Do I need an account?
No. You start right away, and your progress is kept in an anonymous account on your device.
To keep it on a new phone or an iPad, save it with Apple or Google when Paco offers to "save your passport", or later from You › Settings. Your progress comes with you.
How do I delete my account and data?
Open the You tab, tap the gear for Settings, and tap Delete account at the bottom. It removes your account, progress, words and journal at once. There's no undo.
It works even if you never saved your account. If you can't open the app, email us and we'll do it for you. The privacy policy lists exactly what's removed.
Which Spanish does it teach? Can I change it?
The Spanish of the place you care about: Spain, Mexico, Río de la Plata (Argentina and Uruguay), Colombia, or the rest of Latin America. It sets Paco's voice, the everyday words, and whether you learn vosotros or vos.
Change it any time in You › Settings › Your Spanish: Spanish from picks the variety, Spanish city picks where your scenes happen, and Level sets how hard things are.
Does it work offline?
Partly. Anything Paco writes or reads needs a connection: lessons, feedback, stories, Listen, journal readings and new word meanings.
Your saved words, practice cards and the Notebook open without one, and what you do offline is saved when you're back online.
Why does Paco need the microphone?
So you can say your answers and journal pages out loud, which helps Spanish stick. It's optional: you can always type instead.
Spoken answers are turned into text by Apple's speech recognition. A spoken journal page is sent to Google's AI to be written down, and the recording itself stays on your iPhone. To turn the microphone off, go to iOS Settings › Pensar.
